When Husband is away...

:-:  I tend toward not fixing myself dinner.  Snacking previals!

:-:  I do wild unconventional things - like buy bird feeders and bird seed and humming bird feeders...  OK - So not so unconventional, more crazy bird-lady...  Still...

:-:  I sleep with the tv or the radio on, or both, to block out bumps in the night

:-:  I sneak off for lunch with the Number One assistant (don't worry! It's a girl - not an affair!)

:-:  I sometimes leave the tv off all morning long!

:-:  I get quit a bit done

:-:  Pogo sleeps on the bed right next to my head, instead of at the foot, like he should

:-:  Evening cocktails lose their appeal

:-:  I miss the sound of spurs on the foyer floor

:-:  Bad days seem worse

:-:  I sniff the flowers he brought for our anniversary over and over and fret when they start to lose their petals

:-:  I dance with my music blasting in my ears and sing loudly without fear of being caught!

:-:  The cats disappear - He is their favorite, you know...

:-:  I count down the hours to his return.

:-:  I realize how much I miss my very best friend....

Who wudda thunk it?

:-: That one short week would produce beautiful green grass from nasty white stuff...

:-: That if you tell an overacheiver his calendar is largely open, he will fill it full of crap to go do... RIGHT NOW!

:-: That after such a terrible challenging last year, this year seems so hopeful and upbeat...

:-: That the love affair with our new "Hope and Change" dude would end so quickly (snicker)...

:-: That our anniversary (15 years) and Mother's Day would fall in the same 7 day stretch, possibly a recipe for disaster...

:-: That someone at Girl's middle school actually gives a hoot about why she has been out 12 times this year...  (Was actually asked if she was having any trouble with fitting in, etc. - Floored me!)

:-: That a trip to "get away from it all" would end with a renewed appreciation for what one has at home...

I enjoyed every minute of it...

There is nothing so wonderful as a few stolen moments with a friend you enjoy to share it with.  No requirements to be anything to anyone other than yourself...

It was glorious!  I ate little, drank alot and got to have one day of absolute bliss in the spa and by the pool.  Thank you, thank you, thank you - and you know who you are!

So... What do you do when...

You get both the crossover Edge and the 4wdtruck stuck?

Yeah...  Not too bright, I am!

Ready to kill the Mr. who is 200 miles away telling me it isn't that bad...  REALLY?

Snow up to my chest in places, just knees in others.

Unable to get to the neighbors to feed their animals since they are on vacation.

Sure the hired man is thinking I'm an idiot and should have stayed home!

This is the same car I showed you in the previous post!No more front tire!

Dogs not thinking that this is very much fun!  One prissy Sheltie mix and a stubby legged Corgi...  Hilarity watching them try to navigate going potty!

Lungs still burning from running in knee deep snow.  Better go find my inhaler...

Yeah, um... Just look - And be very glad you are not here!

OH what a difference 14 hours makes!  The first two pics are the contrast I thought was striking looking out one window to another in the car.  That is definitely Colorado for ya!  Out one window you would think life was good, spring had sprung and all was well...

Out the other window, darkness and very threatening clouds loom on the horizon.

Picture 3 - well that is what I woke up to this morning at 5:30 am!!!!!  And guess what?  The school district didn't think life was too snowy to call school, despite the fact that a rather frazzled bus driver called me to let me know she was stuck!  STUCK!  A bus that easily outweighs my car by four times!!!!!  Are you kidding me?  Needless to say, the Brown Household has shut down and we are now snugly tapping on our computers.

Be glad that your spring hopefully consists of flowers instead of flakes!

Springtime in the Rockies means...

  • Never knowing what to wear even if the sun is shining...
  • It can be 70 degrees at noon and 30 degrees at 5!
  • Cute clothes must be covered up by sweatshirts and parkas
  • Feet of snow instead of inches of rain
  • My SADD is almost over for another year!
  • mud...  lots of mud...
  • The shortest growing season known to man... (ok - not really, but it feels like it!)
  • Pogo gets a bath once a week
  • A renewed spirit of can-do-ness
  • watching the horses play outside for the first time - Que Bella!
  • Finding little blooms on the fushia that lives inside (because it is too stinking cold outside!)
  • Boy's lizard is awake and HUNGRY!
  • Little tufts of green amidst the dry and withered browns.
  • I am slowly awakening and excited to be creative again!
What does Springtime mean for you in your neck of the woods?  Share and leave me a comment - I'd love to read about it!
